A twice-convicted robber was charged Wednesday with attacking a man with a knife in Lake Forest.
Kyrese Ellis Rowe was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery with serious bodily injury, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor counts of battery, battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest. He also faces sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on a victim.
The violent conflict occurred around 8:15 p.m. Monday at El Toro and Bridger roads, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Gerard McCann.
The victim sustained a superficial stab wound to his abdomen and was treated at the scene, McCann said.
Rowe ran away but deputies caught up to him a short distance away, McCann said.
Rowe pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday and was ordered to return to court for a pretrial hearing Sept. 24 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
Rowe pleaded guilty to robbery in October 2014, and pleaded guilty to robbery again in December 2017, according to court records.
Rowe was acquitted of robbery with sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon and misdemeanor resisting arrest in April. In that case, prosecutors accused him of attempting to steal from a Home Depot and running from deputies attempting to detain him.
