A brush fire that erupted Thursday on a hillside at the south end of Menifee scorched roughly seven acres before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the area of Garbani Road and Pitman Lane, a mile east of Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine and hand crews from the county and Murrieta & Fire Rescue were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate midway up the hill.
No homes or other structures were threatened, and no road closures were required.
Firefighters quickly deployed hose lays, and at 5:30 p.m., the brusher’s forward rate of spread was stopped.
Full containment was expected by 7 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
