A 31-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash that left the car he was driving wedged between an off-ramp and an overpass in Boyle Heights Thursday.
A white Kia sedan drove off the freeway and landed in an embankment around 2:15 a.m. Thursday on the transition road from the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway.
The victim, Guillermo Bravo Rodriguez, whose place of residence was not immediately available, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
The California Highway Patrol closed the transition road and issued a SigAlert.
Caltrans crews began breaking down the closure about 6:45 a.m., and the SigAlert was canceled around 7 a.m., according to the CHP.
Video from the scene showed the badly mangled car and firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department working to clear the vehicle from the embankment.
