A man was shot and killed in an argument in North Hollywood Thursday and a suspect was taken into custody.
The shooting was reported about 12:05 p.m. Thursday in the 12000 block of Hamlin Street, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man was reported to be in an argument with a second man, who opened fire, a department spokesman said.
An ambulance was summoned for the shooting victim, who was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody, according to the LAPD.
Images from the scene showed evidence markers in the street and a white van against a car wash building as officers conducted their investigation.
Roy Romer Middle School is near the shooting location, but it was not immediately clear if the campus was placed on lockdown.
