A man was wounded in a shooting in North Hollywood Thursday and a suspect was on the loose.
The shooting was reported about 12:05 p.m. Thursday in the 12000 block of Hamlin Street, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man was reported to be in an argument with a male suspect, who opened fire, a department spokesman said, adding that no one was in custody.
An ambulance was summoned for the shooting victim, but an update on his condition was not immediately available, police said.
Images from the scene showed evidence markers in the street and a white van against a car wash building as officers conducted their investigation.
Roy Romer Middle School is near the shooting location, but it was not immediately clear if the campus was placed on lockdown.
