The death of a woman who was apparently struck by a vehicle in Palmdale was under investigation.
It’s unclear if the case is considered a hit-and-run, but deputies responded about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a pedestrian down at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue P, with vehicle driving around the downed victim, according to Lt. L. Arnold, the watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Palmdale Station.
A passerby reported the incident to authorities.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Arnold said.
Sheriff’s deputies were still investigating hours after the crash and it was not immediately clear if the crash was a hit-and-run, Arnold said.
Sierra Highway was shutdown north of Rancho Vista Blvd. and south of Avenue O-8.
Video from the scene showed the victim’s body lying on the ground while sheriff’s deputies investigated the scene.
