An investigation was underway Monday into a single-vehicle crash into a tree on the Pomona (60) Freeway in East Los Angeles that killed one person.
The crash occurred about 9:35 p.m. Sunday near the Downey Road off-ramp from the eastbound side of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel pronounced one person dead at the scene. The victim appeared to have been the sole occupant of the car as no other injuries were reported.
The crash and emergency response temporarily closed all eastbound lanes, but they were soon reopened.
The Downey Road off-ramp remained closed, however, until about 1:40 a.m. Monday, and an associated SigAlert was canceled.
