Investigators Monday were searching for the hit-and-run driver involved in a deadly collision with a 59-year-old motorcyclist in Riverside.

Steven Pingrey of Riverside was killed at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Cranford Avenue and West Linden Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.

“The suspect is still outstanding, and the investigation remains ongoing,” Detective Steve Espinosa told City News Service Monday.

The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Unit said Pingrey was going westbound on Linden at an unconfirmed speed when the driver of a vehicle coming from the opposite direction veered into the victim’s motorcycle, triggering a collision.

The motorist sped away from the location, where witnesses stopped to call 911, police said.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene minutes later.

Espinosa said a description of the suspect vehicle is not yet available, but investigators were working on it Monday afternoon.

Further details were expected to be released later.
