Two people, one of them a child, suffered major injuries in a crash Tuesday that left a car wedged under a tractor-trailer in West Rancho Dominguez.
The accident took place at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol. An 18-year-old man driving a white Hyundai sedan with a juvenile passenger aboard was heading southbound on San Pedro Street at a high rate of speed when the vehicle entered the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard against a red light, the CHP said.
An eastbound Freightliner big-rig being driven a 45-year-old Moreno Valley man entered the intersection on a green light and the Hyundai collided with the rear of the truck and became wedged underneath, the CHP reported.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel took both the Hyundai driver and the juvenile passenger to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.
