A 4-year-old boy was fatally struck while moving about on a Corona street, authorities said Thursday.
Nathan Paez of Riverside died after he was hit at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Pleasant View Avenue, near Smith Avenue, just south of the Riverside (91) Freeway, according to the Corona Police Department.
The agency stated that the boy’s relatives were busy “attending to a vehicle parked along the street” when he apparently wandered onto the narrow two-lane corridor.
An eastbound motorist traveling at an unconfirmed speed hit the child, according to the police department.
Authorities said the driver immediately stopped while witnesses called 911.
Nathan was taken to Corona Regional Medical Center, where died less than an hour later.
The investigation was ongoing Thursday.
