The Los Angeles area was rattled by a shallow earthquake off the coast of Hermosa Beach Sunday morning, but no damage was reported.

The temblor occurred at 8:40 a.m. Sunday about four miles southwest of Hermosa Beach. It had a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 and a depth of 11 kilometers, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Shaking could be felt in the west Los Angeles County area.

“We felt it. But it wasn’t that big of a deal,” a Hermosa Beach Police Department dispatcher told City News Service. The department did not receive any service calls from the earthquake, the dispatcher added.
