Authorities Monday identified a 54-year-old man killed in a hit-and-run collision in Paramount, possibly while he was riding an electric bicycle.
Melchor De la Torre suffered traumatic injuries and died at the scene of the crash on Thursday night, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office, which listed his manner of death as accidental.
He was struck around 11:01 p.m. Thursday on the on-ramp from Rosecrans Avenue to the Long Beach (710) Freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.
De la Torre may have been struck on Rosecrans Boulevard and then landed on the on-ramp, the CHP reported.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and there was no further information available on the suspect.
An e-bike was present at the scene of the collision.
The investigation into the fatal collision was taken over by detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the CHP said.
