A collision involving a tractor-trailer killed a woman and a dog who were walking in Wilmington Wednesday.

A vehicle struck a woman and a dog around 2:09 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of the Pacific Coast Highway and Alameda Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, which confirmed one death in a traffic crash, but no other details.

A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said paramedics made one ambulance transport from the scene of a crash involving a Toyota Prius and that animal control officials were notified of an injured dog.

According to ABC7, a woman and a dog died in the collision.

A witness to the crash said that a man was taken into custody at the scene by police, but the LAPD did not confirm that anyone was arrested.

Video from the scene showed a motionless dog lying in the roadway, a stopped tractor-trailer and emergency personnel speaking with witnesses.
