Six suspects have been arrested on suspicion of a series of crimes related to a carjacking and theft ring, police in Downey announced Wednesday.
The investigation was undertaken by the Downey Police Department in partnership with the Los Angeles County and Orange County sheriff’s departments.
The crew is suspected in “a series of high-value vehicle thefts throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties,” authorities said.
“The crime series began on or about August 7, 2026, and continued through September 22, 2026,” police said. “Over the course of the investigation, the crew was linked to numerous stolen high-end vehicles, multiple police pursuits, a carjacking in the city of Downey and an incident in which a suspect pointed a handgun at a police officer during a traffic stop.”
A Downey Police SWAT team, along with SWAT teams from LA and Orange counties and the South Gate, El Monte, Torrance, Beverly Hills Manhattan Beach, Gardena and Redondo Beach police departments and the California Highway Patrol simultaneously executed search warrants at 11 locations. Six suspects were taken into custody and nine stolen vehicles and more than a dozen firearms were seized, police said.
Police added that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony counts against four of the suspects.
