Riverside residents interested in serving on advisory panels that help guide policies related to the airport, budget, police department, transportation and other components of local government are being sought to fill a range of voluntary positions, officials said Thursday.
“Our boards and commissions give residents a meaningful opportunity to have a voice in their local government,” City Clerk Donesia Gause said. “These community volunteers bring valuable perspectives to the table and serve as an important connection between our residents and City Hall. If you care about Riverside and want to make a difference, we encourage you to apply.”
There are a total of 16 commissions and boards with vacancies currently, and they’re listed as the following:
— Airport Commission;
— Board of Ethics;
— Board of Library Trustees;
— Budget Engagement Commission;
— Charter Review Committee;
— Commission on Aging;
— Commission on Disabilities;
— Commission on the Deaf;
— Community Police Review Commission;
— Cultural Heritage Board;
— Human Relations Commission;
— Human Resources Board;
— Museum of Riverside Board;
— Planning Commission;
— Parks & Recreation Commission; and
— Transportation Board.
To be eligible to serve, an applicant must be a city resident and registered to vote. Terms span four years, and members are permitted to serve two consecutive terms.
The current application window is open until Nov. 13.
