A brush fire that broke out Friday near Interstate 10 in Calimesa scorched roughly three acres before crews got it partially contained.

The non-injury blaze was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Friday in the area of Seventh Place and I-10, just north of Mustang Way, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that multiple engine crews from Riverside and San Bernardino counties were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate through medium vegetation.

The brusher soon crossed into the Yucaipa city limits, and Cal Fire-San Bernardino County personnel took charge of it, according to reports from the scene.

By 5 p.m., firefighters were making steady progress encircling the blaze, which was expected to be contained around nightfall.

No evacuations were ordered, and no road closures were in effect.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
