A firefighter was injured while battling an attic fire Monday at a single-story home in the Hyde Park area of Los Angeles.
Firefighters dispatched at 3:31 p.m. Monday to 5137 S. Victoria Ave., near Crenshaw High School, had the fire out within 27 minutes of their arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The condition of the injured firefighter was not immediately known. Paramedics took him to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.
“LAFD crews are conducting overhaul operations on both South Brynhurst Avenue and South Victoria Avenue,” the LAFD’s Lyndsey Lantz said. “LADOT has been requested for traffic control, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.”
The cause of the fire was under investigation.

At 3:05 pm, there was a loud explosion that shook my bedroom window. There was fire with black smoke then gray smoke and then white smoke. I live at 5144 Crenshaw Blvd the next street over and the same block as 5100 block as Victoria St. I have a video of the house on fire. I pray that no one was killed.
