A middle school in South Los Angeles was temporarily locked down Tuesday, in response to a possible bomb threat from an unknown caller, authorities said.
The lockdown occurred at approximately 11:55 a.m. at George Washington Carver Middle School, 4410 McKinley Ave., according to a Los Angeles County Unified School District spokesperson.
“The Los Angeles School Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department conducted a search of the campus and determined that the threat was not credible,” according to a news statement. “L.A. School Police will be investigating this incident further.”
“As a precaution, students were relocated to the soccer field during the search, supervised by staff and had their needs attended to, including the provision of water,” according to the news statement.
The lockdown was lifted at approximately 2:07 p.m., school officials said.
“Our school has resumed its instructional day, and dismissal will proceed as normal,” according to the news statement. “Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our students and staff safe.”
