Authorities Saturday released the name of a man who was shot to death in Palmdale.
The shooting was reported at 4:57 p.m. last Sunday in the 37900 block of 10th Street East, south of East Palmdale Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Kelton Mendoza, 32, was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a case ruled a homicide, the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said.
A videographer at the scene spoke to a witness who described the shooting as a possible road rage incident.
The witness said the victim was driving a black Mercedes when he passed a slower-moving white vehicle, which caught up to him, then words were exchanged and about six shots reportedly were fired from the white vehicle, which left the scene.
The sheriff’s department was not immediately able to confirm the witness’ account.
Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
