Homicide detectives continued their investigation Friday into an incident in Hawthorne where a woman was killed and a child was critically injured.
Homicide detectives responded around 3:20 p.m. Thursday to the 4000 block of 139th Street, near Jim Thorpe Park and Prairie Avenue, to assist the Hawthorne Police Department with a death investigation, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The woman was pronounced dead at a hospital, while the child was listed in critical condition.
The woman’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
