The University of Southern California next week will celebrate the grand opening of the 88,000-square-foot, $59.3 million Wallis Annenberg Hall.

Touted by the school as a “technological marvel,” the new building will house high-tech classrooms, collaborative meeting areas and a state-of-the-art student newsroom focusing on innovative media technologies.

According to USC, the newsroom will blend digital, video and audio production into a space that will adapt to new technology and innovations as they happen in the coming years.

“As media and communication shift more and more to the center of modern life, we have continuously worked to place ourselves at the center of that shift,” said USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism Dean Ernest Wilson.  “Just as communication is at the center of modern life, USC Annenberg is at the center of communication and journalism.”

Grand opening ceremonies will take place at noon on Oct. 1.
