Doctors at UCLA’s Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center and colleagues at three other UC campuses marched Tuesday in a one-day strike to protest what they call unfair labor practices.

According to the Union of American Physicians and Dentists, the strike is the first in 25 years for fully licensed physicians. Demonstrators are expected at the Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center, until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. A rally will be held at noon.

Picketers are also at student heath centers at UC Berkeley, UC Davis and UC San Diego.

The union represents about 150 doctors who work in UC student health centers. UC doctors joined in 2013 but have been negotiating for more than a year on their first labor contract. The union protests “UC’s intransigent and illegal behavior in bargaining” according to an official statement
