A 21-year-old woman walking down a dark alley after failing to get into a nearby student concert was raped near the California State University, Northridge campus, and the attacker was still at large, Los Angeles police said Sunday.

The assault occurred in the alley between Plummer and Vincennes streets, just east of Reseda Boulevard, as a sold-out concert known as Big Show continued nearby on the campus, according to Lt. William Mann of the Los Angeles Police Department‘s Devonshire Division.

Mann said it was unclear whether the woman attends CSUN, but the campus newspaper, The Daily Sundial, said she is a student.

She tried to attend the weekend concert before being turned away about 9 p.m., Mann said.

“She was walking through the alley when she was approached from behind, and raped,” Mann told City News Service.

The woman was treated at a nearby hospital and released later in the night.

Big Show, which dates back to 2001, is an annual event sponsored by CSUN’s Associated Students and is billed as being produced “for students, by students.”

Tickets are not sold to alumni, faculty, staff or the general public.

This year’s headliners included DJ Carnage and rapper Tyga, who reportedly brought along his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.
