The Hacienda La Puente Unified School District’s pre-K program in the city of Industry was among 19 schools and districts around the U.S. named “Exemplars of 21st Century Learning” Wednesday by a national education coalition.

The Partnership for 21st Century Learning’s exemplar program celebrates schools and districts that have incorporated advanced learning practices into instruction by teachers, curriculum, assessment and professional development.

“That is a great tribute to our state’s dedicated, innovative, and hardworking educators, parents and students,” said Tom Torlakson, state superintendent of public instruction.

“These schools showcase the ways in which 21st century learning boosts student achievement, engagement, and preparation for lifelong learning and success,” he said.
