An investigation continued Wednesday into the death of a USC student found dead in an apartment near the university.

It’s believed the student died from a drug overdose, authorities said.

The student was found dead about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment in the 30th Street Court Apartments, near 30th and Figueroa streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and USC Public Safety Department.

The name of the student was withheld pending family notification. The person’s age and gender were not immediately available.

The death investigation was being handled by homicide detectives from the LAPD’s Southwest Division, according to Sgt. Carlton Brown.

An autopsy is pending.
