The USC campus Friday was in shock over an apparent suicide at a Trojan fraternity.

The death was being investigated as a possible suicide, according to the Daily Trojan, the campus newspaper.

The fatality was reported about 4:35 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of West 28th Street, near Figueroa Street, in the University Park section of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im.

The investigation was taking place on USC’s fraternity row and was being handled by the LAPD, according to David Carlisle of the university’s Department of Public Safety.

The victim died at the Gamma Epsilon Omega fraternity house, according to the Daily Trojan.

The location is north of USC, which issued an alert advising people to avoid the area.

The advisory indicated that there was no threat to USC or the community.
