A fire sparked by an electrical problem damaged an unoccupied building at a middle school in Westwood Monday, but no one was hurt.
Firefighters sent to the Emerson Community Charter School at 1650 Selby Ave. at 10:17 a.m. extinguished the flames in 22 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The single-story, 60-by-30-foot building housed an arts classroom and a sewing classroom, LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The fire started in the arts classroom, and partly spread to the sewing classroom, Humphrey said.
A damage estimate was not immediately released.
