A team-organized viewing party for the telecast of the Los Angeles Lakers season opener against the Portland Trail Blazers will be held Thursday evening at Tom’s Urban at LA Live.

Fans will have opportunities to win prizes and have pictures taken with the Laker Girls and a championship trophy.

The party begins at 7 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The game marks LeBron James official debut with the Lakers following four preseason games when he averaged 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 15.8 minutes per game.

“I’ve had good success up there in my career,” James said following Tuesday’s practice at the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo. “It’s always been fun to go there and being around the Nike family, playing in front of them. They’ve always had a well reception for myself.”

James endorses Nike products. The firm is headquartered near Beaverton, Oregon, in the Portland metropolitan area.

James had his first triple double in Portland, with 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists on Jan. 19, 2005, his second season in the league in the Cleveland Cavaliers 107-101 victory. James was the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double at 20 years, 20 days.

In his lone appearance in Portland last season, James had 35 points and 14 rebounds, both game highs, in Cleveland’s 113-105 loss.

The Lakers have lost 15 consecutive games to the Trail Blazers, including seven in a row in Portland. Their last victory in the series was on March 3, 2014 at Portland’s Moda Center.

This is the first time the Lakers have opened the season on the road since the 2005-06 season and the fourth time since the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season.
