The USC men’s basketball team practiced Sunday for the first time since pausing team activities Dec. 13 because of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in its program.
The announcement of the positive test was made about 2 1/2 hours before the Trojans were scheduled to play host to Stanford, prompting postponement of the Pac-12 Conference game. USC canceled nonconference games planned for Dec. 16 against San Francisco and Wednesday against Texas Southern, and postponed a Pac-12 game at Oregon State planned for Dec. 20.
The Trojans (4-1) have not played since Dec. 8 when they defeated UC Irvine, 91-56. USC is scheduled to resume play Tuesday by playing host to Santa Clara (6-1) at the Galen Center. The matchup was announced Saturday after the Trojans’ planned opponent, Loyola Marymount, announced it was pausing team activities due to positive cases of COVID-19 and related contact tracing.
The USC-LMU matchup was announced Wednesday.
