Norco College earned a spot among hundreds of other campuses nationwide as a “military friendly school,” thanks to programs designed to attract and retain students who are current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, it was announced Wednesday.

“This is a testament of our promise and dedication to our student veterans,” Norco College President Monica Green said. “The Norco College community is excited to offer additional resources with the expansion of the Veterans Resource Center due to open this fall.”

The campus received the “military friendly school” designation from the independent Military Friendly Advisory Council, which rated 1,200 institutions of higher learning throughout the country. Roughly 750 received passing grades, earning the council’s stamp of approval.

Criteria for the designation were built into surveys gauging schools’ ability to maintain a healthy enrollment of veterans, see them through to graduation, provide assistance with ongoing education for advanced degrees and help with job placement.

The results of the surveys will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be viewed online at www.militaryfriendly.com.

In 2018, Norco College was named by the Military Times a “Best for Vets” college, stemming from a survey of about 500 two- and four-year campuses nationwide. Norco College landed in the top 25, meeting most of the same criteria established by the Military Friendly Advisory Council.

The school is part of the Riverside Community College District, which includes Moreno Valley College and Riverside City College.
