Center Theatre Group announced a program Wednesday that will offer free tickets for early performances of shows at the Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre to Los Angeles-area schools, colleges and nonprofit groups.

The “In the House” program will also include tickets to select performances at the Ahmanson Theatre, including the upcoming “A Christmas Carol,” beginning Nov. 30.

Eligible organizations will be able to apply when individual tickets go on priority presale. Selected groups will then be given a promotional code they can distribute to people who will be able to select their own seats through the CTG online ticketing site.

“As we return to the theater after this extended and unprecedented time away, we recognize the need for affordable tickets to CTG shows for all Angelenos, so I’m excited to add this new program to support our work around access, equity, diversity and inclusion,” CTG Managing Director/CEO Meghan Pressman said in a statement. “The `In the House’ initiative allows us to strengthen our relationship with local schools and fellow nonprofits while giving their students, members and supporters the opportunity to have a true theater experience and fall back in love with the art form we have missed so much over the past year and a half.”

All attendees at CTG productions will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. Face coverings will also be required. People unvaccinated due to a medical/religious exemption must show proof of a negative PCR test — not a rapid test — taken within 72 hours of the performance.

The theater group already has a program that offers tickets to people aged 25 and younger for the first preview performance of CTG productions at the Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas Theatre.
