Residents can begin voting Wednesday on their favorite Palm Springs High School student-made commercial for the I Heart Mac & Cheese restaurant.
Until Nov. 18, nine 30-second student-produced holiday commercials will be available for viewing and voting at pshsfilm.com/vote, according to a statement from I Heart Mac & Cheese.
“We loved partnering with Palm Springs High School students to provide aspiring student filmmakers with an opportunity to write scripts and produce a professional television commercial,” I Heart Mac & Cheese owner Blu Bryan said in a statement. “This project is an example of how our restaurant continues to involve different communities in our area.”
Local actors from several organizations, along with students and their families, collaborated to produce a variety of holiday-themed commercials, according to restaurant officials. The scripts showcase the Mac & Cheese menus while also embracing the LGBTQ+ community in advance of the holidays.
About 190 PSHS students took part in the competition, with their work being featured on television through the four-year FILM Pathway program, according to a statement from Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus.
Last year, students worked to create COVID-19 commercials with the school’s Health Academy for the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation in an effort to encourage the community to get vaccinated.
