A Palm Desert-based foundation Friday announced a grant aimed at minority students aiming to enroll in college.
The Desert Healthcare District Foundation announced they awarded the Dr. Carreon Foundation an $86,250 grant to “grow and strengthen Coachella Valley’s healthcare workforce.”
The foundation has awarded approximately $150,000 in grants to the Dr. Carreon Foundation since 2017.
For more than 30 years, the Dr. Carreon Foundation has annually awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to minority students pursuing a higher education or trade school.
“We continue to grow and provide more financial assistance to more students due to the support of donors and grants like this,” said Executive Director of the Dr. Carreon Foundation Ricardo Loretta. “We are grateful to be able to provide even more scholarships to support those going into the healthcare field, which has a faster-than-average growth above all other occupations.”
