Students from the College of the Desert’s Performing Arts will perform the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert beginning next week, the college announced Friday.
Tfhe performance dates will be at 8 p.m. next Friday and May 17, as well as a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on May 17 and May 18 in the McCallum Theatre, at 73000 Fred Waring Drive.
The musical production explores the relationships of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, the disciples and the Roman Empire through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, according to College of the Desert.
“Our performing arts students have been working tirelessly on this show,” Dean of Social Sciences and Arts Alejandro Jazan said in a statement. “We are confident that the music, storyline and production will wow and entertain our audiences.”
