A virtual exchange of creativity and ingenuity highlighting architectural artwork created by third and fourth graders in Palm Springs and its sister city in Mexico is on tap next week.

The event will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Vista Del Monte Elementary School, 2744 N. Via Miraleste, in Palm Springs, and is the culmination of a four-day cultural exchange between 31 bilingual fourth-grade students in Palm Springs and 31 bilingual third and fourth grade students from Newland School in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

“Modernism Art in a Box” will showcase the students’ architectural artwork and include their insights about the project, their cultural influences and designs.

Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte will give his remarks at the event, officials said.

The event was made possible by collaborations with Palm Springs Unified School District, Palm Springs Modern Committee and the city of San Miguel de Allende, with funding provided by a grant by the city of Palm Springs.
