The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office announced Friday the death of the 22-year-old daughter of former Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Austin Beutner was caused by a drug overdose.
Emily Beutner died by suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office,
A deputy medical examiner performed an examination on the younger Beutner’s body on Jan. 15, and the cause of her death was certified on Friday. According to the medical examiner’s office, the death was ruled a drug overdose resulting from the effects of mitragynine, 7-hydroxymitragynine, quetiapine and mirtazapine.
Emily Beutner was located shortly before midnight on Jan. 6 by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel in Palmdale in a field near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Technology Drive, authorities said.
Emily Beutner was in apparent medical distress before being taken to a hospital, where she died at approximately 2:10 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
