An air conditioning issue led students to be dismissed early Monday from Raymond Cree Middle School in Palm Springs, but school officials said the problems was later resolved, and normal operations will resume Tuesday.
The campus at 1011 E. Vista Chino had a water main break problem that affected the air conditioning system over the weekend, school officials said.
The school sent a message to parents Monday morning saying students were being allowed to leave campus early as a precautionary health and safety move amid triple-digit heat.
According to the National Weather Service, Palm Springs was expected to have a high temperature of 102 degrees on Monday.
On Monday afternoon, school officials said the situation was rectified and all school buildings will be at their normal operating temperature Tuesday morning.
“We want to thank you for your cooperation and patience during this disruption. While early dismissal is never a top choice, the health and safety of our scholars is our highest priority, and we did not want to risk students being overheated,” Principal Bernie Marez said.
