An autistic man with limited mental capacity who apparently walked away from a school in Reseda has been found, authorities said Monday.

Junior Saavedra, 18, had been last seen about 11:50 a.m. Friday at Diane S. Leichman Career Preparatory and Transition Center in the 19000 block of Gault Street, according to relatives and the California Highway Patrol, which issued an Endangered Missing Advisory on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Saavedra’s mother told reporters that someone from the school called her Friday and said her son had left the campus and asked if he had arrived home. She told ABC7 she went to the campus and was told her son went missing before noon that day, but she wasn’t contacted until roughly 1 p.m.

She said her son has the mental capacity of a 4-year-old.

The CHP issued the Endangered Missing Advisory on Sunday.

On Monday, the CHP canceled the advisory, saying Saavedra had been found. No details were released about when or where he was located, or what condition he was in.

An Endangered Missing Advisory is designed to help law enforcement agencies investigating the suspicious disappearance of at-risk missing children or other endangered people, according to the CHP.
