Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters battled and eventually extinguished a stubborn blaze at a vacant two-story Craftsman- style home in Hollywood Thursday.
Fire crews responded to 1744 N. Wilton Place between Hollywood Boulevard and Franklin Avenue regarding a fire in the exterior with both floors fully involved. Using heavy water streams, they gained the upper hand and knocked down the blaze in 84 minutes, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
It took 70 firefighters to control and extinguish the fire.
Several fire companies will remain at the scene for overhaul duties and representatives from the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety and the Southern California Gas Company have been contacted, Lantz said.
No injuries were reported.
