A fire broke out Wednesday morning at a one-story building under construction in the Sawtelle section of Los Angeles, sending smoke across the San Diego (405) Freeway before crews put it out.
The fire was reported at 6:34 a.m. Wednesday at 11261 W. Santa Monica Blvd., near Beloit Avenue, just west of the freeway, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The smoke was coming from burning pallets, Humphrey said. Crews snuffed the flames in 25 minutes and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately clear, according to Humphrey.
A nearby apartment building was not threatened, he said. Crews remained on scene mopping up.
