Firefighters stopped a half-acre vegetation fire that burned in a canyon near some San Clemente homes Friday.
The Orange County Fire Authority reported at about 10:30 p.m. Friday that it had stopped forward progress of the fire in the 300 block of Avenida San Pablo.
No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged, fire officials said.
Firefighters worked their way to the canyon bottom to put out hot spots.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
