A brush fire that erupted Wednesday just east of Temecula blackened about an acre and threatened an outbuilding before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:20 p.m. near Avenue Madera and De Portola Road, roughly a mile northwest of Vail Lake, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate through medium brush.
An outbuilding was directly in the brusher’s path, but firefighters quickly established hose lays, halting its forward rate of spread by 12:50 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
Full containment was expected by 1:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
