A firefighter suffered a minor burn Tuesday while battling a blaze that tore through both floors of a cluttered two-story home in Chatsworth.
The fire was reported at 10:46 a.m. in the 10300 block of North Christine Place, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The blaze sent a large plume of smoke over the northwest San Fernando Valley.
Crews arriving on scene found heavy smoke and flames on the first floor and toward the rear of the structure, LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said.
All occupants safely evacuated the home. The injured firefighter was treated at the scene by paramedics, Lantz said.
A total of 57 firefighters worked to extinguish flames that spread throughout both floors of the single-family home, according to Lantz.
The fire was declared out at 11:39 a.m., she said.
Los Angeles police assisted with traffic control, while the Department of Water and Power and building inspectors were also called to the scene, Lantz said.
Additional support was requested for firefighter recovery as crews mopped up, “salvaging property and cooling hot spots,” Lantz said.
Traffic in the immediate area was expected to be impacted, and motorists were urged to seek alternate routes, she added.
