Containment of a 55-acre brush fire in an unincorporated area near Lake Elsinore was at 90% Sunday, CalFire reported.
The fire had previously been reported as 95% contained.
The fire was initially reported at 12:30 p.m. Saturday near the area of Crumpton Road and Highway 74, where crews reported smoke showing and the fire burning at a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings and then all warnings were lifted, CalFire officials said at 7:50 p.m. Saturday.
“Crews will be committed throughout the evening patrolling the fire perimeter, monitoring any hot spots and performing mop-up,” fire officials said in an update. “Please use caution when returning to the area for night crews and equipment.”
Only eight firefighters remained at the scene, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire was not known.
