Fire scorched about a half-acre of vegetation in the Lakeview area Monday before it was halted.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:15 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Gilman Springs Road and Jack Rabbit Trail, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said crews encountered the fire at a moderate rate of spread, and it was contained shortly before 1 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
