A fire at a one-story residence in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Elysian Valley was extinguished in less than half an hour, the Los Angeles Fire Department said Friday.

Fire crews responded at 2:14 a.m. Friday to 2358 N. Fernleaf St. and Crystal Street where they encountered heavy flames at the residence, said LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

It took 38 firefighters 27 minutes to fully extinguish the blaze, Middleton said.

The LAFD contacted the Red Cross to assist the residents who were displaced due to heavy fire damage to the building. The city’s Department of Building and Safety also responded to the location to assess its structural integrity, the LAFD said.

No injuries were reported.
