A woman was critically injured during a second-alarm house fire Saturday morning in Long Beach, authorities said.

Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with a house fire in the 4600 block of East Goldfield Avenue, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

“Upon arrival, Long Beach Fire Department personnel were treating a female adult who had been found unresponsive inside the residence,” according to a police statement. “She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.”

Firefighters dispatched to the location about 12:30 a.m. had the fire out within five minutes of their arrival, according to Capt. Jack Crabtree of the Long Beach Fire Department.

The cause of the fire was under investigation and there was no other immediate information available.
