A woman is hospitalized Tuesday after she was rescued from a burning, two-story fourplex in South Los Angeles.
Fire crews responded at 1:41 a.m. Tuesday to 238 W. 43rd St. and Broadway, east of the Harbor (110) Freeway where they found smoke showing from the second floor with heavy flames and reports of people trapped. Firefighters coordinated rescue required, a roof ventilation and an interior fire attack simultaneously, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
LAFD paramedics took the victim to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
It took 62 firefighters 39 minutes to knock down the fire and fire crews will remain on the scene for investigation support and overhaul.
Lantz said the department’s Arson Section will launch an investigation into the cause of the fire.
