Los Angeles Fire Department fire crews quickly knocked down a fire at a 10′ x 15′ detached outbuilding in the rear of a house in Lake Balboa that was caused by a lithium-ion battery, the fire department said Thursday.

Fire crews were called at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday to the 6800 block of Forbes Avenue and Vanowen Street where they found the fire, LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said. No injuries were reported.

LAFD Hazmat units were called to the scene to manage overhaul operations of the fire, Lantz said.
