A family narrowly escaped a fire at their residence in Garden Grove but lost one of their canine pets in the flames, the Orange County Fire Authority reported Tuesday.
The fire was reported at approximately 10:50 p.m. Monday at a residence on Flannel Avenue. Firefighters received a 911 call from the residents after their smoke alarms were activated and fire crews responded quickly knocking down the fire in 13 minutes, according to the fire authority.
One firefighter was taken to a hospital for precautionary evaluation and while one family member sustained minor injuries while rescuing their four dogs, one dog was found dead at the scene, fire crews reported.
Anaheim and Garden Grove fire departments assisted in knocking down the fire.
